Choosing the right Authorised Representative (AR) Network is one of the most important decisions a broker can make, yet there is little transparency across the sector.
New industry service Pinnacle Connect has launched to help brokers navigate the increasingly complex AR Network landscape and make more informed decisions when evaluating potential networks.
Pinnacle Connect provides independent insight and guidance to brokers considering an AR structure, while also helping AR Networks connect with representatives who align with their strategy, culture and compliance standards.
According to Pinnacle Connect Director Montsie Valdez, many brokers struggle to access clear, comparable information when assessing networks.
“Over the past 12 months I’ve spoken with close to 150 brokers and engaged with 15 AR Networks, ranging from established groups seeking growth to new entrants,” Valdez said.“What quickly became clear is how difficult it can be to build a clear picture of what’s available. Our research suggests there are more than 40 AR Networks currently operating in Australia, yet there is no central source of information and no consistent way to compare them.”
Valdez said brokers often rely on informal referrals or relationships rather than a structured evaluation process when choosing a network.
“Brokers tell me the process feels opaque. They might hear positive things from colleagues, but when they begin exploring options the information is often fragmented, difficult to interpret and time-consuming to compare,” she said.
“In most cases, brokers need to sign NDAs and go through lengthy processes before they even understand the commercial structure of a network.”
At the same time, AR Networks face increasing regulatory and compliance obligations, making it critical to attract representatives who align with their governance frameworks and business model.
Pinnacle Connect aims to bridge this gap by providing a structured, independent approach that helps both brokers and networks assess suitability and long-term fit.
“Our role is to qualify both sides,” Valdez said.
“We help brokers evaluate networks based on their business goals, operating model and values, while helping networks connect with representatives who genuinely fit their proposition. It’s about bringing greater clarity, transparency and better decision-making to the process.”
By creating greater visibility across the AR landscape, Pinnacle Connect aims to support stronger, more sustainable partnerships between brokers and networks as the sector continues to evolve.
